Doha rises along the Persian Gulf coastline as a planned, fast-built capital, its skyline of towers and the Museum of Islamic Art arranged along a curving corniche. The Doha Metro's Red Line runs directly into Hamad International Airport, one of the more useful airport-to-downtown rail links in the Gulf region. Summers are extremely hot and humid, with temperatures regularly topping 40°C (104°F) from May to September, while winters are mild and dry. Outside the metro's reach, the city is built around wide highways, and a car or taxi covers most everyday journeys.
