The city has no metro yet; its first line is under construction, so the TransMilenio bus rapid transit system, along with taxis and rideshares, carries most trips, including to and from El Dorado Airport. The altitude can take a day or two to adjust to, especially for exertion. It's Colombia's political and economic center, with a large, well-preserved colonial core in La Candelaria.
